Modernization options for the technological scheme of an absorption-gas fractionation unit at an oil and gas processing enterprise for energy saving and increased production of high-liquid products

Abstract

Methods for improving the technological scheme of fractionating refinery gases into individual components using an absorption column are considered. The absorbent used was an IBP–180 °C straight-run fraction, mixed with a circulating fraction of 100–180 °C obtained at the same facility by means of precise fractionation. The objective of this study is to identify options for modernizing the process flow scheme of units operating according to this technology. The proposed solutions are aimed at reducing energy consumption and increasing the production of propane and butanes contained in refinery gases. Implementation of the proposed modernization solutions for the absorption–gas fractionation unit will increase the output of valuable components (propane and butanes) and reduce their losses in the fuel gas stream sent to the network. In turn, increasing the production of propane and butanes makes it possible to significantly expand the resource base for using these components in petroleum refining and petrochemical processes.

Assessment of pour point depression in the selective adsorption removal of n-paraffins from a mixed fraction of heavy atmospheric gas oil and light vacuum gas oil using zeolites

Abstract

This paper investigates a domestic technology for the selective removal of n-paraffins from diesel fractions by adsorption on zeolites. The study aims to assess the maximum achievable pour point depression of a mixed fraction of heavy atmospheric gas oil and light vacuum gas oil (240–410 °C fraction) during the industrial implementation of this technology at Slavyansk ECO LLC. Operational data from the selective purification unit were analyzed, and the performance indicators achieved during the processing of the 240–410 °C fraction were evaluated. The efficiency of the selective adsorption removal of n-paraffins from the mixed heavy atmospheric/light vacuum gas oil fraction using zeolites is examined.

Assessment of the influence of bituminous insulating material components on product quality

Abstract

This study is devoted to identifying the causes of discontinuities in bituminous construction materials that manifest during production, storage, and service. The methodology included visual inspection of bitumen samples, rapid testing, determination of the physicochemical properties of the plasticizer, analysis of the filler and the base (substrate), and gas chromatography analysis. It was established that one of the determining factors in the formation of damage is the physical aeration of the bitumen mass with atmospheric air during the production stages, as well as the adsorption of air and moisture by the filler during the transportation stage.

Analyzing the operation of scraper mechanisms in crystallizers used in dewaxing and de-oiling units

Abstract

Problems associated with the operation of scraper crystallizers in dewaxing and de-oiling processes are examined. The low reliability of commercially produced crystallizers is shown to be due to the design of the scraper mechanism, whose operating principle causes scraper pin jamming even with minimal misalignment of the shaft and heat exchanger tube, ultimately resulting in frequent component breakage and accelerated wear, as well as the need for systematic hot washes that disrupt the stability of the technological regime. The impact of these factors on heat transfer efficiency and product quality indicators—namely, the pour point of dewaxed oils and the oil content in slack wax—is analyzed. The need to develop a fundamentally new design of scraper devices aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of crystallizers is substantiated.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the depressant-dispersant additives Difron 4201 and Infineum R185 on the low-temperature properties of vacuum gas oil produced at the Mariyskiy Refinery by vacuum distillation of fuel oil. The mechanisms of action of these additives on the n-paraffins present in the vacuum gas oil are described, and the resulting reduction in pour point is evaluated. The effectiveness of Difron 4201 and Infineum R185 is assessed, along with their potential for industrial application to improve the low-temperature properties of vacuum gas oil.

Results of operational tests of the “CARBOXOL” coolant in the cooling system of KAMAZ vehicles

Abstract

The results of operational tests of the high-temperature coolant OZh-65 “CARBOXOL” in the cooling system of V8 engines produced by KAMAZ PJSC are presented. The composition of the “CARBOXOL” coolant concentrate and its working grades is substantiated. The possibility of using high-temperature coolants of the OZh-40 and OZh-65 “CARBOXOL” grades as replacements for the currently used coolants of grades “40” and “65”, Tosol-A40M and Tosol-A65M, OZh-40 “Lena” and OZh-65 “Lena”, is demonstrated. The performance of the “CARBOXOL” coolant at elevated temperatures is confirmed. Upon completion of the tests, the OZh-65 “CARBOXOL” coolant maintained its operational properties and did not reach the rejection criteria.

Abstract

A brief overview is presented of the main research areas discussed in 2025 by the participants of the Carbon Materials roundtable—an event regularly held as part of the Russian Petrochemical Forum and the international exhibition Gas. Oil. Technologies (Ufa). In 2025, this event was titled Sunyaev Readings 01. The presentations focused on the processing of petroleum residues and the production of carbon composite materials. The goal of Sunyaev Readings is to consolidate the efforts of representatives from various industries in the production and application of petroleum-derived carbon materials. The organizers invite interested companies and industry specialists to take part in the Sunyaev Readings 02 roundtable in 2026.
